You may be wondering what the heck jackfruit is. Why does it taste similar to pulled pork?
Jackfruits are native to Southeast Asia and can weigh between 10 -100lbs. WOWZA! You can find it in Canada, in either the Asian food section or in the canning section of regular grocery stores. You can find it in North America in health food stores under the Upton Naturals brand.
The flesh of the fruit is similar to pulled pork. It doesn’t taste very good, but it will take on the flavor of any sauce that you add to it.
It’s a great way to create a recipe that is similar to pulled pork.
Last year, I developed this recipe to be used in a Global TV segment. I realized that I never shared it. Here it is! The assembly is easy and the result is SOOO delicious! !
