This is the third blog post on case studies, in which I will share with you the exact plan and protocol someone followed when they worked with me. Also, the results that person got.
Andree and I first met at an event that I hosted in Toronto. She took part in the Wellness Challenge last year.
Why she signed up – in her own words:
I received your email and have been considering making changes to live a healthier lifestyle for some time. It was a little intimidating to go for a one-on-one consultation with a nutritionist, but the Wellness Challenge sounded like a good introduction.
Her #1 Goal throughout the Challenge – in Her own words:
“More mindful food will hopefully result in more energy and feeling better. “I have to admit, losing some weight would be very welcome.”
What we did:
She stuck to the meal plan and recipes for eight weeks. She did deviate from the plan occasionally, for example when she went out to eat or had an emergency. But overall, she stuck with it. Participants have told me that they don’t miss the dairy and gluten-free ingredients. It’s important to know which you should replace in your meal.
Digestion:
We then introduced some simple techniques during the digestion part of the challenge. (We have four different sections in the challenge: digestion, weight loss, energy, and stress). These were designed to help those who experience bloating and irregular bowel movements. One simple technique that stuck with her, was to drink lemon juice with water in the morning.
Energy & Weight:
It wasn’t extreme in terms of energy, but it had a huge payoff. Breakfasts with more protein were introduced to help her blood sugar levels for the day. This will help you curb your cravings, and keep your energy levels steady. No more 3pm slumps! Afternoon snacks should always be low in sugar and contain brain-boosting healthy oils. Paleo apple muffins are a good example. They only contain 7 ingredients. Here is the recipe.
It’s interesting to note that the same strategies that increase energy also work for weight loss. She had less cravings after balancing her sugar levels. You eat less of the “bad stuff” that causes weight gain. It is much easier to lose weight.
In Her Own Words – The Results
When I first started the program I had issues with gas and bloating. We ate a healthy diet that included dairy, gluten and sugar, but not in excessive amounts. You made some simple suggestions (i.e. Lemon juice in water, along with adding these few supplements and removing gluten, sugar and dairy, seemed to make my body do a complete 180! My gas is very rare, my bloating has disappeared, and I no longer have irregularities. Most of my cravings are gone, except for the occasional bread lust …). I feel healthier and rarely get hungry!
I have finally found a way of life that I can maintain on a daily basis. I am excited to see what comes next! Sorry for the over-the-top praise, but I wanted to let you know how much your program has helped me so far.
